KC Regional!

Well, as I’m sure you all know, Team Driven is at the Greater Kansas City Regional! The team was off to a rough start, but the team has been doing great! The Chairman’s Presentation presented to a panel of  Chairman’s Award judges at 10:40, and they did an awesome job! To get a frequent update on the team’s matches, go to teamdriven.us and look on the home page. Jason Ringer is adding quick comments following each of Team Driven’s matches via Twitter (Note: You do not need a Twitter account in order to view the updates.). We encourage you to check out the kcfirst.org as well. Thank you for all of your support!

Robot Ship!

In case you didn’t know, today was the last day of this year’s build season! The robot had to be “bagged-and-tagged” by midnight tonight. This is a new proccess this year where, instead of shipping your robot, you put the robot in a giant bag and seal it until you take it to competition. After some of our dedicated members programmed and continued to build throughout the night last night and early this morning we believe the robot is now ready for competition!

The robot may be gone, but the things left to do has hardly decreased. The Chairman’s team will be working to practice their presentation, PR is pushing to get all of our handouts and items ready to go, and programming will be making a few minor improvements.

The KC Regional is next week, and we invite everyone to come! To find out more about it, check out the website http://www.kcfirst.org/Greater_KC_Regional.html

Oh and last, but not least, robot pictures!

Team Update

Unfortunately it has been awhile since we have posted but with everything that the team has been working on im not suprised! This past week has been jam packed with all sorts of deadlines. On Monday the animation was finished and submitted, and it was two days early!! This set a new Team Driven record, part of this is  may have been due to the fact that the deadline got pushed back two days… maybe. Hopefully in the next day or two I will pust the animation up so everyone can see. Another very important deadline this week was our chairmans submission! For those that don’t know, the chairmans award is considered the gold metal of FIRST. It goes to the team that embraces first ideals and spreads them in in their school and community. The submission for this largely consists of a 10,000 character paper that we submitted yesterday at 10:53pm, a nice seven minutes before the deadline!

As the season build season is quickly drawing to a close everyone is working hard to get things done. The final robot is now driving around and kicking just in time for our Courtwarming assembly that was on Friday. Earlier this week we ran into a major issue when we weighed the robot to find that with our current designs we were slightly overweight(about  20+ pounds). Since then we have made serious changes to our elevator assembly to make our wieght problem much more managable.

With alot of the build done alot of the pressure is on the programmers. Paul and Pete have been hard at work to make our robot more maneuverable, shoot, tension, score in autonomous, and targeting and shooting with the camera. I dont believe that we will be running out of things to work on before Tuesday when the robot ships!

Here are some pics of the final robot as it looks now:

Autonomous Work

Yesterday and parts of this morning, we hit a good milestone with our programming. Our robot scored its first goals all on its own! Check out the video:

Newspaper article!

For the next four weeks, the three Lee’s Summit School District robotics teams will have an article published in the Lee’s Summit Journal!  Each of the four articles will be published on the Youth and Family page on Wednesdays.  This is a great way to spread the word about robotics as well as demonstrate how the three teams work together!  The first article will be in the Lee’s Summit Journal this Wednesday, February 10.  Please show your support of Team Driven, Team Broncobots, and Team Titanium by reading these articles!  We greatly appreciate the Lee’s Summit Journal providing us with this wonderful opportunity!

Team Driven is getting into gear as the building season comes to a close. It almost seems as if we can see the light at the end of the tunnel and are rapidly working. Even though we are a week behind of schedule we are really working hard to make up for all of the time we have been spending to help further along the different designs on our robot. Good Job Team Driven!! :)

Start of Week 4

With a mere 21 days remaining in the build season, the team has been cracking down and getting to work. Some are working on the elevator is overcoming a few minor setbacks. Others are wiring the robot. This will be the first time that our cRio will be used; wish us luck!
